It was a hot night in the small town of Illyri. No one was out, no one would be out, at this time of night, just gallivanting about. Elsie was in search of something a bit, out of place. Something that she could get her powers on. She heard a few rustles in the bushes, but nothing that would fulfill her thirst for adrenaline, power.
She sat in the high branches of a tree as her eyes scanned the grounds for any sign of life. She would jump at the sound of a bunny running across the broken twigs laying on the ground, or the sound of a bird settling into it's nest in a tree near her. She was soon becoming bored with this game and she decided to jump out of the tree, landing almost gracefully on her high-arched feet. Before she could exit the quiet forest, she heard another sound.

Patrolling the city was all well and good. Leon was used to the scent of car exhaust and ancient oil mixed with hot asphalt. He was familiar with the mangled mash of too many bodies, too many footsteps over the same stretch of concrete, of metal and glass and a dozen different foods all on one street corner. He knew those scents, and in their way, they were comforting and comfortable.
But there was no denying that the wolf beneath his skin also craved the world away from civilization. Fresh--or fresher--air and the loamy scent of dirt underfoot. It wanted to watch small animals scurry for their burrows, wanted to hear the squeaky flutter of a dove's wings and the creak of ancient trees still settling their weight on roots delved deep in the earth. Sometimes, the wolf pushed the man out of the way and Leon excused himself from the modern world to prowl through the forest, breathing it in, letting it's wildness leech tension from his skin.
When he was alone, that was. He wasn't alone tonight. He'd thought he was, had been about to grit his teeth and set the wolf free for a while, but the sound of a body falling -- falling from that far up? -- to earth stopped him in his tracks. He froze, for a moment, then started moving toward the sound. A flashlight, clipped to his keychain, came off the carabiner holding it in place and he snapped the light on. If it was an animal, it would run. If not... no, a deep breath told him. Not an animal. Not one with more than two legs, at least.
He stepped around a thick tree trunk. "Someone out here?"

Her thoughts were cut short by the sound of a voice and she turned on her heels her mind already thinking of the 150,000 defensive spells she could cast. Who's there?. Her question was answered when she saw a light being shined towards her way, she had the power to make herself invisible, but this is someone she wanted to be seen by, or she hadn't really cared if she'd been seen, the person seemed harmless. She walked a little closer and tilted her head to the side. The body of the guy seemed a bit buffer than that of a normal males, she had seen lots of creatures in her time and she knew that there were others out there, like vampires, werewolves, shape shifters.
Are you human? She said as she pushed her mind to turn the flashlight off, it was a simple trick, really, any sane person could do it. She ran a hand through her hair and waited for his response.

Female. He'd known that before he got a good look at her. In the glare of the flashlight, he had enough time to see 'slim' and 'blonde' before...the light winked out. So that was how it was going to be? Leon held back a sigh and pocketed the now-useless flashlight. Perfect. "Better be," he answered wryly, "or you're going to have a bunch of questions to answer you probably don't want. Like what kind of question is that? And what did you do to my flashlight?"
Though it took a second or two for him to fully regain his vision with the light going out that fast, he recovered quickly. "So I'm going to guess you're not."

Elsie rose an eyebrow as the man spoke. She laughed at his response. I wouldn't just go off and ask a person if they were human, if I hadn't been 99.9% sure that they weren't she smiled and looked him up and down. Hm, you're not a vampire so...You're either a shapeshifter or a werewolf. she grinned. She'd always been good at guessing, most of the time she was right. Sighing, she held her hand out, she was in no need of pushing away any potential associates. I'm Elsie, I am a witch. she winked.

A witch. Perfect. Leon didn't sigh or roll his eyes, but his lips did press together in a thin, tight line. A witch this bold? This immediately open about who and what she was? She wasn't a cautious witch, that much was certain. Which meant she probably hadn't been practicing for that long. Probably meant she didn't have a coven. What it didn't mean was that she couldn't be trusted to be harmless. "It's a free country. No rules about wandering around in the forest at night. Humans do come out here. Camp, roast hot dogs, that kind of thing. You might meet one. Stranger things have happened."
He let her come to him, though he didn't snub her by not shaking her hand. That, though, was enough body contact for him with a magic user. And his name? Not a chance. "Where's your coven?" he asked, on the off chance he was wrong.

Elsie sighed and dropped her hand. great, I've had the pleasure of meeting an uptight snob Running a hand through her hair, she looked at the guy I understand that, thanks for feeding me information that I already knew! she clapped her hands sarcastically and cut her eyes to a tree, something she thought would be much more interesting than this conversation. She grimaced when he asked about a coven, speaking through her teeth, she narrowed her eyes. I'm content with being alone, thank you. I think I'd like to keep it that way. she sighed and turned on her heels. It was nice meeting you. Good Night. she headed for her favorite tree at the back of the forest.
