PLOT
then
It all began long ago, in the early ages of man. Kingdoms and empires flourished and fell just as the sun rises and sets. The story is just that though, a story... a myth, passed down from one generation to another. It's the kind of story told to children to scare them and give them nightmares of death and deceit. At least they can be comforted by the fact that it's only a story, right? Ha.
The kingdom has long since been forgotten, the name, Andrasti, known only to the educated immortal. Two brothers were born to the King of Andrasti, and yet, only one was born to rule. The two were inseparable; there was no getting between them, even after the eldest was crowned. And then a woman entered the picture.
Jealousy ruled the brothers. Each of them wanted this beautiful woman, but only one could have her. Being the king of Andrasti, it was only fitting that he marry the woman, and so he did. As time wore on though, her love for the younger brother only deepened.
As the romance between the king's brother and wife blossomed, the treachery began. When the brothers rode off to war together, to take down an enemy threatening to invade, it wasn't the foe's sword that slayed the king. With his brother's blood on his hands and the war that he had conspired won, the younger brother took the throne and his brother's wife.
Whatever happiness that followed this was short lived. For his sins, the new king was forced to pay the ultimate price. Cursed by a witch, his kingdom fell, his wife was killed, and he was forced to live for all of eternity with his guilt, shame, and misery.
Immortality was not this man's only curse. Food could no longer sustain him and the only thing that could quench his thirst was, well, blood. The sun was his ultimate enemy, forcing him to seek shelter by day and hunt by night. His only children were those that he gifted with immortal life. However, he was different from them. They had weaknesses that he didn't... they could die.
