Astoria was shocked for a moment, she hadn't been quite expecting him to just come out and kiss her. So for the first second or so she just kind sat there before she actually began to reciprocate his kiss. She ran a hand up his bicep, gripping it lightly as the other hand ran through his hair and sifted through his beard. That was one change Tori definitely liked about him. The beard made him sexier, older looking and didn't do much to help her libido. Just as she really started to get into the kiss her common sense side started to kick in. At the moment things couldn't get too heated, or else she could hurt him. She continued the kiss a little longer, reluctant to stop, she had really missed him. But reluctantly she pulled away, her breath coming in large bursts, after a moment she said quietly “Although I’d love to continue this, our son is in the next room sleeping,” Tori glanced down at his cast “and it’s not like we can do much more than kiss at the moment…” She hated that a slight blush rose in her cheeks. Talking about sex shouldn't be awkward, not around Jacob at least.

He didn't stop her when she pulled away, though he did let out a low groan, letting his head fall back against the couch. He knew it had been too soon, but that didn't mean he wasn't disappointed. "Right," he said, licking and then biting his bottom lip for just a moment. He didn't exactly like being treated as though he were so breakable... she could be the one on top! He supposed that wasn't the point though and he wasn't going to push her if she wasn't ready to do anything with him.
"Maybe we should get back to sleep..." He wasn't saying this because he felt rejected, but because he didn't want to be tempted. Not to mention it really was late and in a few hours time they would be woken by their kid. Hell, it would mark the first time that Jacob was woken by his son, a thought that made him smile a little. Looking over at her, he gave her an apologetic half smile. 245 WORDS FOR ASTORIA J. REESE | RADIOACTIVE LYRICS BY IMAGINE DRAGONS | TEMPLATE BY MERCY

Astoria sat there for a moment, she glanced at the couch, where he had been sleeping earlier and then thought about her bed. It was a hundred times more comfortable…and Jacob really needed some good sleep, it would help him heal faster. After another small moment she looked up at him, leaned in and kissed him gently on the lips.
When she pulled away she said quietly “How about you get up and hobble into the bedroom Fido, I’m letting you out of the doghouse. For tonight at least, you can come sleep with me.” Tori gave him a smile as she stood up and grabbed his crutch. She could probably help him to the room herself but it would be quicker if he just used the crutch. 128 WORDS FOR JACOB H. ROSWELL | CITY OF ANGELS LYRICS BY 30 SECONDS TO MARS | TEMPLATE BY MERCY

He sat there, unmoving, as she kissed him on the lips. Sleeping in the bed again was temping to say the least, though he hesitated for a moment. "Are you sure?" he asked, arching a brow. Lifting his leg off of the coffee table, he got to his feet and accepted his crutches from her. "You're not going to use this opportunity to smother me with a pillow, are you?"
Following her into the bedroom that had also been his just four years before, he was reminded of how much things had changed. Most of his things were still packed away in the closets. Setting his crutches back down, he sat on the bed, thinking back to the last time he had actually slept there. He was starting to wish that he could go back to that night... He could have just stayed there, sleeping happily with his girlfriend. Maybe then he wouldn't have missed the birth of his child.
Sitting there for a moment, he picked up a framed picture off of the bedside table and stared at the picture of Caleb. He really did look like him. "What was it like?" he finally asked her, wanting to know more. It was in that moment that he realized that he wanted to know everything... how her pregnancy had gone, where and when their son was born, what his first words had been. It killed him, knowing that he didn't know any of this. He was a stranger to his son but, even worse, his son was a stranger to him. Setting the picture back down, he looked back over to Tori and pulled his leg up onto the bed. 245 WORDS FOR ASTORIA J. REESE | RADIOACTIVE LYRICS BY IMAGINE DRAGONS | TEMPLATE BY MERCY

As she walked into the bedroom she made for the closet, taking out several extra pillows from the top shelf that was mainly used for extra bedding. The pillows had been Jacobs before he had left, Tori hadn't been able to sleep with them on the bed marking the place he should have been laying, but she hadn't been able to get rid of them either. They no longer held his scent, now smelling of dust mites and other usual closet smells.
When she turned around she noticed the picture frame in Jake’s hand and couldn’t help but give him a small smile. It had to be weird, even after a few days of being around his son. Astoria set the pillows down on his side of the bed and then crawled up onto it, sitting with her legs crossed on her side of the bed.
“It’s been crazy.” She said in reply, looking at him. “He almost never stays still long enough get accomplish anything. It’s a miracle he even goes to bed at night.” Tori said with a half-smile and a laugh. “Ever since he could crawl I’ve been videotaping him and taking as many photos as my memory card in my camera can hold before downloading them onto the computer.” She had been doing it just in case of a moment like this. 226 WORDS FOR JACOB H. Jake smiled thankfully when she fetched his pillows for him. Laying back as she sat on the bed, he rubbed his face with his hands. His guilt as eating away at him, but he kept telling himself that he couldn't turn back time. All it would have taken was one phone call and he would have known what was going on back home. As more time had passed though, it became more and more difficult to pick up that damn phone. Had he stayed though, who knew what Steven would have done next?
Even as he thought all of this though, a smile crossed his face at her words and he pulled his hands away from his face. "He sounds almost as bad as my brothers and I were..." Jake had always been fond of his childhood memories, up until the death of Francis, that is. Everything had just gone downhill from there when his mother basically went crazy and his father started to obsess over Steven... much like Jake himself. "I wish I'd been there to see it all." He knew he had the chance to have more kids... to witness their births and all of that/ He vaguely wondered how that would make Caleb feel, growing up... if they were to have more kids and Jacob was there to see their first years when he hadn't been there for his. He would have to find some way to make up for it.
Turning his head, Jake took in the features of the woman who had birthed his son and raised him as a single mother. "How does this work? Being a parent? I couldn't even take care of my hamster..." He always wondered where his hamster had run off to. He'd been twelve when he lost him and they never had found him in the house. He'd had plenty of other pets after that, each experience as unsuccessful as the last. 245 WORDS FOR ASTORIA J. REESE | RADIOACTIVE LYRICS BY IMAGINE DRAGONS | TEMPLATE BY MERCY

Astoria moved to lay on her side beside Jacob. She watched his face for a long moment as she lay there next to him. Tori didn't think she’d get enough of just looking at him anytime soon. It was almost like she was living in one of her best dreams, and she kept waiting to wake up and find it was all just in her head. In fact she had pinched herself once or twice over the past few days, just to make sure.
Reaching over she ran her hand through his hair, ruffling it a little and smiling softly. “It’s a lot of trial and error. Basically you start out just making sure you feed it, change it and make sure it sleeps. Then as it grows, you got to keep in entertained and fed and change it and make sure it sleeps.” She said grinning. “Of course you could just opt for the push the food under the door method, but kids tend to get cranky when you do that.” 172 WORDS FOR JACOB H. A laugh escaped him when she spoke and once again remembered what it was like to be with his best friend. "You think that's funny now, but you'll come home one day to find a cat flap on Caleb's door and me feeding him through it," he said, just picturing it. For a moment, he just let it all sink in, until his nostrils flared and he pushed himself up on his elbows, eyes shooting toward the door of the bedroom. His ears had picked up on little feet coming down the hallway.
"I guess it is a good thing we didn't do anything tonight," he admitted sheepishly, just as Caleb pushed open their bedroom door. "My tummy hurts," Caleb said, coming into the room with his stuffed dog. Climbing up into the bed with them, Caleb sat between them and once again nearly crushed Jake's balls as he crawled over him. "Are you sick?' Jake asked, already wondering if he could handle this. If the kid threw up on him, he couldn't promise that he wouldn't throw up as well. Caleb shook his head. "Why does your stomach hurt then?"
Caleb got under the covers and covered his head. "You'll be mad at me..." Jake looked at Tori and arched a brow, wondering what that was supposed to mean. Caleb had done something.... 245 WORDS FOR ASTORIA J. REESE | RADIOACTIVE LYRICS BY IMAGINE DRAGONS | TEMPLATE BY MERCY

Astoria sighed inwardly as her son came into the room. Of course he would be up to something, even in the early hours of the morning. While it wasn't an overly common occurrence Caleb did have an occasional tendency to come crawl into bed with her. It was interesting seeing Jacob asking the questions she would have usually asked when her son professed such things as stomach aches and things of that manner.
Shaking her head as their son hid under the covers Astoria gave Jacob a look that said ‘oh boy’ and then tugged the blankets off of Caleb. “What did you do Caleb?” she asked in that mother stern voice that she had perfected so well over the years. Her son was always getting into trouble, hurting himself and doing things he knew better than to do. It was a miracle that he hadn't yet broken any bones. 150 WORDS FOR JACOB H. Caleb wouldn't meet their eyes, but he didn't have to. Sitting there and watching the boy, Jake's eyes caught on to something. Lifting Caleb's shirt to reveal his stomach, Jake pushed himself off the bed and was already starting to get dressed, maneuvering around his leg. Rather than putting on jeans, he had no choice but to put on gym shorts. As for Caleb, he continued to lay there, a light shining through his stomach. He had definitely swallowed something, the light of which was visible and continued to flash every few seconds. A trip to the hospital had suddenly become a necessity. Like father, like son.
"Do you have the number for his doctor? I'll call ahead while you get dressed." There was no point in doing more than putting shoes on Caleb. It was rather surprising how calm Jacob was. Then again, he and his brothers had done it all growing up, so there were plenty of hospital visits. Jacob himself had swallowed a whole dollars worth of dimes. 245 WORDS FOR ASTORIA J. Shaking her head at her son Astoria handed Jacob her phone, the screen was open to Caleb's doctor's number. As Jake got their son's shoes on she quickly pulled on a pair of sweat pants and an okay t-shirt. She looked at her son with his stomach flashing green red and blue at a regular interval and couldn't help but think that at least her life wasn't boring. Caleb had definitely perfected the art of keeping Tori on her toes.
Astoria slipped on her flip flops then grabbed Caleb's jacket and put it on him. "Alright, you can call Dr. Brook on the way there." She said to Jake as she grabbed the keys to her 2005 Jeep Cherokee. The thing was getting old but it had been pretty reliable since even though she had bought it used. Picking Caleb up she said "Come on you little heathen lets go see if we can get that out of your stomach. And please don't swallow anything else on our way there." And then they were out the door. 150 WORDS FOR JACOB H. ROSWELL | CITY OF ANGELS LYRICS BY 30 SECONDS TO MARS | TEMPLATE BY MERCY

The night was rather chilly and, once they were in the car, Jake was on the phone with the doctor. He seemed surprised to be getting a call from Caleb's estranged father, but insisted he would be on his way nonetheless, so long as Jacob would call the hospital ahead of time. When he finally hung up the phone, he looked into the back seat, where Caleb was sitting and humming, acting perfectly normal.
It wasn't long before they were sitting in a hospital room. "Open up," Caleb said, a tongue depressor in his hand. Jake did just that, letting his son take a peek at his throat while they waited for the doctor to come back with the different scans they had done on Caleb's stomach. "How's it look?" Jake asked, when Caleb made a face. "You're sick. You need medicine."
Jake tried not to smile and tried to maintain a serious look. "How sick? Will I live?" Caleb grabbed Jake's face, tilting his head in different directions so he could look in his eyes and up his nose. "Only if you take your medicine." He sounded so serious. "Your face is furry..." When that was said, Jake couldn't help but laugh, just as the doctor was coming in.
Jake, who had been sitting in a chair next to the hospital bed, lifted Caleb back up onto the bed so that they could listen to what the doctor had to say. Jake looked over at Tori, wondering if she was nervous or not and also wondering if occurrences like this were as normal with Caleb as they had been for Jake. "Fortunately," the doctor said, glancing at the kid's file. "I don't see any dame from the toy." He looked over at Caleb who was observing his own flashing stomach. "Unfortunately, we're going to have to surgically remove it." 245 WORDS FOR ASTORIA J. REESE | RADIOACTIVE LYRICS BY IMAGINE DRAGONS | TEMPLATE BY MERCY

Astoria hadn't been so keen on the idea of her son going off for surgery. He was only 3. She had even asked the doctor if he was sure they couldn't just make him throw it back up. But after a little bit of arguing she had finally agreed, mostly because she knew they needed to get the damn toy out of her son’s stomach.
Now she and Jake sat in the waiting room of the pediatric hospital waiting for their son’s surgery to be over and done with. Tori had to admit, she hadn’t been nervous when they first brought him into the hospital but now that he was in surgery she was a bundle of nerves.
Astoria looked over at Jake who was sitting beside her and said “Who’d have thought we’d be right back in a hospital just a day after you got out?” She sighed and leaned over to rest her head on his shoulder. She was exhausted having not had a lot of sleep, and she knew Jake had to be getting close to there too.

Jake was on his fourth cup of coffee. Staying up late was something he did often, considering he spent the past three years hunting a vampire. Much of that hunting often took place at night. A smile crossed his face when Tori said this and he wrapped his arm around her, taking another drink of his coffee. "Like father, like son," he said, resting his chin on her head, lightly. "He'll be fine though." He knew she was nervous about the surgery. He would admit to being nervous as well, but he knew the kid would be fine, a fact that helped him to maintain his calm composure.
Kissing the top of her head, Jake was people watching, wondering what most of the people were in for. Or, rather, why their family or friends were in for surgery at such an early hour. Looking at the clock, he figured it wouldn't be much longer. "He's going to be high as a kite when he wakes up." He let out a sigh, his coffee empty. "Do you want anything from the vending machine?" he asked her, his coffee cup empty. He needed to stretch a bit after sitting there for so long. 245 WORDS FOR ASTORIA J. Astoria leaned into his embrace a little more, loving the feel of his strong arm around her. Even though she knew how to protect herself, having had mandatory fighting lessons since before she could remember, but it felt nice knowing that she had Jacob there for backup if she ever needed him. She kissed his cheek affectionately in return as he kissed the top of her head. Maybe it was the whole ‘son has an emergency mishap’ thing but she was ready to bury the hatchet and just get over the fact that he left. He was there and at the moment that was what mattered most.
Stretching Tori stood, “Yeah I do, but I’ll go. I’ll get you some more coffee and figure what I want while I’m there. You can stay and wait to see if the doctor comes out before I get back.” She told him with a tired smile. He had gone the last time, and she was getting tired of just sitting there waiting.
Unfortunately the vending machine was in a totally creepy location. The hallway might have been lighted earlier in the night but now it was dark with only a few lights on interspersed down the hallways in huge distances. Any human would have a little bit of a hard time seeing in the hall, but with her werewolf vision it made it easier. She took a moment at the vending machine, looking inside to see what interested her most. 247 WORDS FOR JACOB H. ROSWELL | CITY OF ANGELS LYRICS BY 30 SECONDS TO MARS | TEMPLATE BY MERCY
